Pat Woods’ Miracle Moment
There once was a third-grader named Pat Woods. She lived in Seymour, Indiana, where a piano sat inside her school. She asked her teacher if she could play. He said yes. A love affair with music was born.
Pat’s parents scraped together the money to pay for lessons, which honed her ability to play by ear. At 17, she experienced her first real concert – jazz at the University of Illinois. Pat, enraptured by the intriguing, complex pieces, then committed herself to attending every concert held at Indianapolis Sports Stadium, even though it was 90 miles away.
A passion for music never fades, especially for a lover like Pat. For her My Miracle Moment, we arranged for the Como-Pickton High School Jazz Band to perform on-site in her honor. For this two-time cancer survivor, the invitation, the flowers, and the music itself created a memory she’ll forever cherish. Of the event, Pat gushed: “It was beautiful. I really love living here at Autumn Wind. You can really feel the compassion.”
